Our projects & courses are a key part of what we do. We aim to deliver fun, creative and educational food focused courses & projects for the community to engage with.

We seek to work collaboratively with neighbouring organisations & the local community so that we can offer activities that make a tangible impact.

We ensure that all of our projects are accessible to those most in need.

Gathering Ground Community Crockery Project

Our community crockery project explored the heritage of the canal area through the memories, feelings and experiences of the local community & visitors as they have lived, worked & played around the area.

Through storytelling and sharing we looked at how people identify with the Canal District transferring these discoveries into everlasting pieces of hand-thrown crockery to be shared with the local community.

We created a 90 Piece hand-thrown community crockery set (consisting of plates, bowls, saucers, mugs & sharing plates). The pieces were produced by local sculptor Kevin Callaghan, based in Glasgow Sculpture Studio.

Part of the crockery set is on display at Old Basin House and the remaining pieces are used at every opportunity for events & also available for the local community to borrow.

The pieces continue to bring memories of the past into the present and inspire what the meaning of community & heritage is for our future.
